Make sure to visit Zealandia. I recommend the guided tour to better understand the site's history and local wildlife. Federico, the guide, was excellent—he explained everything patiently and answered all our questions!

Took a night tour with the family this evening. It was an incredible experience! We could not fathem how our guides Al and Nico found the animals in the dark. We saw 4 kiwi, tiny bugs, reptiles, and fish. They also pointed out local plants. The guides were very knowledgeable friendly and happy to answer all sorts of questions. Bonus, the nighttime tickets grant us access for the next day as well. We are eager to go back in the morning.

Well worth a drive out of Wellington to experience this slice of natural paradise. Beautiful birdsong, clear air and peaceful breeze… and not even far from suburbia! The tour is well worth it. Our guide gave us some really great knowledge and kept us entertained on our walk around the park.
