About this Deal

From NZD $149.00 Duration: 120 Minutes (approx.) Location: Lake Tekapo, Mackenzie District Product code: High Country Station Tour Raise your hand if you’re ready for a farm adventure like no other! Our 2-hour guided high country farm tour takes you deep into the heart of Mt Hay Station — a vast 50,000-acre working property just outside of Tekapo. You’ll discover epic landscapes, meet a variety of friendly farm animals, and enjoy an authentic taste of Kiwi station life. The photo opportunities are endless — from sweeping alpine views to cheeky alpacas — so don’t forget your camera! Travel in comfort and style in our 12-seater 4WD Mercedes Sprinter van, perfectly equipped for both smooth and bumpy farm tracks. Large windows give everyone a clear view as we explore remote areas and our favourite scenic stops. Tours are capped at just 10 guests, so you get small-group warmth with big-landscape drama. Your journey begins with the story of Lake Tekapo and historic Mt John Station, spotting farm residents along the way — 12,000 merino sheep, 700 Angus cattle, alpacas, 25 horses, and 15 working dogs! Learn about the Irishman Creek Hut, forestry, and the football-sized pinecones that grow here. Soak up the views at Swan Tarn, an alpine gem framed by the Southern Alps and Aoraki/Mt Cook, and see if you can spot the rare black stilt bird. Sample pure New Zealand honey produced on the farm , drink crystal-clear spring water straight from the source at Forks Stream, and discover the native plants that thrive in this high-country environment. Pass by the horse ranch — home to the horses who starred in Disney’s Mulan — and visit our private Mt John lookout for one of the most breathtaking panoramas in Tekapo. (depend on season) The second half of your adventure is the Mt Hay Farm Experience — an interactive, hands-on visit to our woolshed and farmyard. Watch a live sheepdog demonstration, meet friendly animals up close, and witness a traditional sheep shearing. Feel the softness of freshly shorn merino wool, feed our alpacas, and enjoy a fun “dress like a farmer” photo opportunity to remember your visit. I participated in the Mt. Hay Farm Experience. Not only could I interact with merino sheep and sheepdogs, but I also got to see firsthand how they use dog whistles to herd the sheep. The tour is in English, but there's plenty of visual information, so even those who aren't fluent in English can enjoy it. You can even take a dog whistle home as a souvenir, so you won't get bored on the way back! This tour is highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience something truly New Zealand! Thank you, Andy!!

The Chinese-speaking commentator, Golden, provided a very interesting and informative explanation. Highly recommended to participate and experience the beauty of the Southern Hemisphere's starry sky.
